Our history

Born at the University of Washington, BioBead is addressing a pressing global need to improve our food system. With diverse backgrounds across academia and business, the founders bring a unique perspective to solving an urgent problem. 

Our Concept

We use biodegradable, drought-resistant hydrogels that encases biochar, bacteria, and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi consortia that increases crop yield by enhancing nitrogen, carbon, and phosphorus uptake by the plant from ambient sources. This reduces or eliminates the need for chemical fertilizer while sequestering carbon through necromass and carbon stabilization.
